All Church Retreat

at Singing Hills   red/white spacer image  February 29 – March 2, 2008

SCHEDULE

You'll be given a detailed schedule when you arrive, but here are some of the key times you'll need to know if you're not coming for the whole weekend:

Session 1: Friday, 7:30 pm       Variety Show: Saturday, 7 pm
Session 2: Saturday, 9 am        Session 4 / Sunday Worship, 10:30 am
Session 3: Saturday, 4 pm

WHAT   TO   BRING

Bible & Notebook — to actively engage with Ron's "Inside Out" talks, not to mention times on your own in fellowship with God.

Teachable Spirit, Servant's Heart — 'nuff said. ☺

Linens — The beds are outfitted with only blankets or bedspreads and pillows, so bring sheets (or sleeping bags) and pillowcases for each member of your family. A few rooms have queens or doubles, but most have a combination of twin beds for parents and metal bunks for children.  (We'll try to e-mail those assigned to queen or double beds once room assignments are made next week; otherwise plan on twins. Rental linens available in a pinch.)

Towels and Toiletries — In most cases, two rooms will share one bathroom, with access through a shared 3-door entry area.  (i.e., you don't have to walk down the hall in your bathrobe.)

Health Needs — any medicine and special dietary provisions you and your family may need.   Meals will be served, and coffee, tea, and hot chocolate will be available throughout the weekend, with a snack of fruits and homemade cookies on Saturday afternoon. Our children's program will also offer "kid snacks" during their gatherings.

Recreation and Free Time Stuff — see the righthand column.
Props for Variety Show — Don't forget those bowling balls you're planning to juggle, or the kazoo or costume or whatever else you may need.

Special Needs for Younger Families — baby monitors, toys, games, snacks, supplements for meals, etc.

WHAT   TO   DO

during free times

Tubing Hill — Singing Hills provides the tubes (but bring your own if you have some); the hill is fairly close to the lodge

Cross Country Skiing, Snowshoeing — Rental equipment available, or bring your own.  135 acres to explore with a network of trails

Ice Skating Pond — not sure at this point whether they'll have it open, but you might want to bring your skates just in case. Rentals also available.

Outdoor Basketball Court — doubles as a broom hockey arena

Snow Soccer?? — at least there were a lot of tracks in the snow on the field just outside the lodge last year when we were there.

Ping Pong, Foosball, Table Games — (including Skip-Bo®, and Apples to Apples®).   Bring other games if you like.

Jigsaw Puzzles — a couple of puzzles that relate to our "Inside Out" theme.  Stop by one of the tables and work on it for just a few minutes, or be a major contributor.

Fireside Chats — There's a beautiful stone fireplace in the large chapel foyer with very comfortable chairs and couches around the sunlit room. Enjoy being family with brothers and sisters in Christ.

Practice for Variety Show — Pull off that last-minute skit or performance for Saturday night.

EMERGENCY   CONTACT   INFORMATION

Cell phone coverage at Singing Hills is spotty. Most users can find reception somewhere on the grounds to make calls, but shouldn't rely on cells for receiving any expected calls. In an emergency, someone can get a message to you by calling Singing Hills at 469-3236, a phone that will be monitored by staff the whole time we're there.
