Greetings from Guam:

You asked for prayer requests, and in the course of things here, we really have something to put in for urgent prayer.

As we were leaving the transmitter site Friday afternoon, we checked the weather service and were astonished to see a well developed tropical depression formed around Eniwetok and Kwajalein in the Marshal Islands. The worst typhoons we face are formed in that area.

It is a fast moving storm, and already 24 hours later it is tropical storm 31W. It will be a typhoon shortly. It is anticipated to follow a track that will take it over the southern end of Guam possibly as soon as Monday night.

Please join us in asking the Lord to move this storm away from us. This being the case, we will start to board things up after church tomorrow. We are also praying that it will continue to be a fast moving storm, if it slows down, it then will probably build in magnitude.

Other than that, we are very busy and very excited. We are praising the Lord for giving us so much to do!!

My last two weeks have been (along with broadcast operations)

  1. Trying to reconcile some interference issues to 3 of our broadcasts. I was able to take care of one of them, am waiting to hear back from an interfering broadcaster that I contacted, and have a frequency change going through that should take care of the last one

  2. Kathy and I are busy getting our home ready for the short-termers that will be out here in January - March. We have also been in contact with them as we are working through the logistics of their time here. They will be staying with us, and assisting in some very critical construction and antenna maintenance at the transmitter site.

  3. I am in the midst of loads of correspondence regarding monitoring and radio reception pointers for some areas relating to the sunspot cycle conditions.

  4. We are in the process of solidifying our frequency/program schedule for the next frequency period. Within the next 3 weeks we will need to finalize our flight plans for a Conference in Mexico City.

  5. Please pray for the antenna project to move ahead.

  6. Kathy has been given the opportunity for a full 4 year scholarship in nursing here at University of Guam. But the enrollment dept. has lost the application forms needed. Please pray that things will move along for Kathy as she pursues this.

That is it for this issue!! I will hope to update you with the progression of the storm as it is possible.

In His Grip,

George
