Help Arrives!

We started this season off with some long needed short-term help arriving. The first to arrive was Lance Bredthauer. Thanks to his hard work the antenna crew was able to do a number of projects, which included repairing the large winch used for antenna work.

Just days before he went back to the states, our friends Marty & Jen Montour & family arrived for 10 weeks of service.

High Frequency Coordination Conference

From Feb 4-9 I (George) was in Abu Dhabi to participate in this season's HFCC Conference.   Shortwave broadcasting is a very active form of international broadcasting, with over 7200 frequency requirements of the world wide broadcasters.  Because the bandwidth is so congested, it is a lot of work to establish clear and effective frequency usage.  Mike Sabin, our chief engineer on Guam, assisted him at this conference. We also represented the NASB from the U.S. at the meetings.

The trip to Abu Dhabi was an adventure. As Mike and I arrived in Abu Dhabi, we were pressed from the beginning. Our luggage didn't make it! So after filing a claim with the airline, we got our room at the hotel, and then proceeded to look for a clothing store so we could get clothes to tide us over until our luggage showed up. We ended up walking through a sand storm as we searched for clothing stores. We were able to find a good deal, and got pants & shirts to tide us over. We praise the Lord that our suitcases were found and brought to the hotel after two days.

Again, work in the antenna field is the big thing. Not only is Marty concentrating on antenna maintenance work, but Caleb, Joshua, and Matt have been busy working on doing some body work on the Subaru Brat used for our rigging vehicle.

International Christian Broadcasters

We are hard pressed on Guam because we have such a need for missionaries! We plan on pursuing every opportunity we can to recruit (or find) someone the Lord has in His plan for service with TWR Guam. The need is urgent, and we appreciate your prayers that the Lord will raise up needed workers.

Before I forget, we also have need of a vehicle for our furlough travels. Please bring this before the Lord as well.

And finally, I need to report on the broken arm injury that I (George) had the first part of November. The surgeon felt that the arm would heal well without having to do surgery. So, after two months of therapy, it became evident that yes, I do need surgery. (Fortunately I have been able to still accomplish my work here, but it has proven to make things very difficult at times.) The first part of March I will have surgery. Please pray that it won't take long for me to be back at full swing so that I may pick up my part of the work here. I am very fortunate that Kathy is (and has been) willing to do so much that I would normally do.

Furlough 2007

We will be back in New England in May for our furlough. We look forward to seeing most of you while we are back. Our furlough is for the second time, a bit short to reach everyone.
