Hi Doug and Family at TBC,
I am happy to report I was able to see the last two games of the world series!! wow-BoSox did it again!
I am writing while back at the night broadcast shift. We have had quite a time at getting our 'clock' back to a normal schedule.
Our visit with Crystal and family in Arizona was a real blessing. We were able to meet many of their church family, and we were quite excited to see their involvement in outreach there.
We arrived on Guam October 9, and busily pent the next few days getting the house in order and getting groceries etc.
On October 14 I flew to Singapore for a week of meetings to put together our schedule for the next season. It was a real praise that I had two additional days in Singapore, as this provided some additional meeting time with TWR's chief operating officer and our new technical director. I really feel this was a great encouragement as it provided some great time to discuss our ministry from Guam and the overall picture of ministry to the Asia region. I am excited about digging into the coordination work.
I flew back to Guam with our technical director Dave Butler, who was coming to lead our staff in a retreat focusing on prayer and the Lord's direction in our ministry. It was another uplifintg time for our staff as we spent three days at a resort center in the central part of Guam.
You just had daylight savings time on October 28th. For us this was the time of the winter frequency period change. We changed seven frequencies and a few time changes of our broadcasts due to the changes in the atmospheric conditions. (I am attaching our program schedule that began Sunday.)
Prayer requests:
Please continue to pray for our staff shortage situation. We have some good news in that respect. Bob and Kelley Thorp (originally from Skowhegan ME) joined our staff on October 8. Bob served as a broadcast engineer both on Bonaire and Sri Lanka.
Kathy was asked to take over the mission hostessing job as soon as we arrived at the airport! She dove right in and we welcomed our first short term couple this last Sunday evening. Dale and Barbara Sandbek have their own radio prgram (that we air) called Grace Notes. They have already been quite an encouragement to us and Dale is at work this week putting up a perimeter fence around the southern end of our antenna field.
Please pray for good weather for this project. Pray for God's leAding as the Sandbeks consider the possibility of joining us as full time staff.
Please pray we will be a great encouragement to our co-workers and our church family as we get back into our 'normal' areas of ministry.
Please pray for our national workers in Myanmar. They have been subject to some fairly severe conditions due to the political turmoil there in the last month.
Please pray for open doors, wisdom and good dialog in the new progamming and coordination process. We are hoping for further outreach in proclaiming the Gospel in Asia. This is quite a time-consuming task, but it is incredibly rewarding. Please also pray for the correct wisdom in dealing with the poorer atmospheric conditions we are deaing with during this end of the sunspot cycle.
China has had many natural disasters this year: rat infestations, floods… Now a widespread drought in the south. Please pray for the people affected that the government will provide enough supplies and even more importantly that they can be comforted in their hearts throughout this ordeal. We continue to pray as well that many will hear the saving knowledge of the Lord Jesus Christ and see He is in the answer.
Thank you so much for continuing to hold the ropes of our ministry from that end. We are grateful to have you as our sending church... to Asia via Guam.
We continue to hold you folks up in our prayers. We noted that you may be having some heavy rains from hurricane Noel this weekend. – we will be before the Throne praying for diversing of the storm out to sea.
God Bless
Kindest Regards,
George
