OCTOBER 2008
Dear Co-Laborers,
We are writing this letter from Singapore. Kathy & I are at our regional office participating in some meetings with regional staff.
I am specifically working with the Asia Program Coordination group as we prepare our
broadcast schedule for the coming 2009 spring season. We are looking at our coverage areas
and our implementation to various language and people groups.

Kathy and I are staying with Dave and Carol Butler. Dave is our regional operations director.
It is a real privilege to have additional time with them, as it is such a privilege to fellowship
around God's Word together and take special time to focus on ministry too.
Now, let me back up a bit to the last few months. It has been very busy at the transmitter site
on Guam. We are in the midst of the next stage of the transmitter automation project. Transmitter
3 has been running on automation since Lance left in May. Now we are at the next stage where we
have run the additional wiring and components for implementation of the other transmitters. Ron
Dick and his wife Sandy joined us for four months, and Dave Olson and his wife Patti have joined
us for 6 months to work specifically on this project.
This project is a big step for us into our future of broadcasting. We are at a very low
point of manpower, and the automation is a way to help in decreasing the load of work for our
staff. There are also changes to the distribution of our programs and new areas to get into
that can be better facilitated with the different changes occurring here. It's exciting! It's
tiring! The real thing to look forward to is that it will facilitate us to be more fruitful in ministry!
We praise the Lord that we have a new short-term man coming to serve with us for a year. His
name is Brian Martin. He will be flying into Guam on November 3. If you remember from our August
letter we shared some of our staffing needs. The Lord is showing His faithfulness in providing
people at the right time. It is a real challenge to keep up with the changes and scheduling and
resourcing for personnel coming in. We are thankful for the way in which the Lord is showing His
direction in our midst. Kathy has found her position as mission hostess to be a joy and a challenge.
A report came in from a co-worker traveling in west central China of meeting with a few radio church
groups in some rural communities in the mountains. They were excited about the clear reception in their
own language. One evening a small group had ventured toward an area that we wanted to see if the
broadcasts were reaching into. They were not allowed into this area by authorities. So they sat out on a
hillside close by and tuned into the broadcasts. Praise the Lord the reception was very clear and strong.
A new believer with them exclaimed how good the broadcaster could speak the Chinese dialect.
