February 2009
Dear Co-Laborers,
It is amazing to me that we are moving at 'break-neck' speed into 2009. 2008 ended with many victories as a result of God's Word being proclaimed by Trans World Radio over the airwaves, and through other forms of media. It also ended with many challenges ahead of us. We rejoice because challenges are many times opportunities, and when placed in the Lord's hands, they are undoubtedly so. And the hand of the Lord was with them, and a great number believed and turned to the Lord. (Acts 11:2) God's Hand works in incredible ways. How often do we realize that He has a remarkable plan for us, and ultimately for us to be His instruments in the lives of other people? There is no question in my mind that our great Lord & Savior has used the broadcasts from here to impact His Kingdom by both bringing new people into a saving knowledge of His grace / His death on the cross, and building others up in the knowledge of His Holy Word. Behold, God's hand is not shortened so that it cannot save, nor is His ear heavy so that it cannot hear (Isaiah 59:1)
We are in the midst of a very remarkable time. The Lord is keeping us depending on Him, and He is at work developing this ministry into the next stage for the future. For the first time in our history here we had more short term staff serving on Guam than career missionaries. For two weeks we had five short term and four career missionaries. For five weeks it will be four short term and fourcareer missionaries. In this time we are not only keeping the operations gong steady, but continuing to work on completing the automation project and upgrading equipment. Whew!! Yes, we continue to experience God's hand at work.
The automation project we mentioned in our last prayer letter is coming closer to completion. This upgrade has meant upgrading more of our faciity than we had anticipated. By the time you read this letter, Dave & Patti Olson will be back stateside after spending a six-month short term assignment with us as Dave spear-headed the automation project. Jack Epperson has joined us for two months and has been digging right into the automation project as well. We again had Lance Bredthauer out to work on this project for a couple of weeks. This time he was back with his new bride, Shu Hsin.
On our operation side of the work here, we have been extremely challenged. Dave Butler, our operations director in Singapore has come out to help us through this time where we needed manpower. Our chief engineer, Mike Sabin and his wife, Eli, returned from furlough on January 23rd. Also, Jim and Doris McIntyre returned from their vacation in the States, and Jim resumed the helm of our antenna rigging. Please pray with us that the Lord will raise up the workers we need on this field.
In the midst of all this technical work, we are grateful to have M & M with us.
They work with one of the orality people groups in China. What an encouragement to hear how
a specific broadcast is having such a great effect with this people group.
