Warm greetings from the other side of God's globe.
Scott and Eric made it off fine this morning. We were up at 3:00 am, to ready for the trip
to the airport. (At my writing here, they should be about half way to Detroit.) Both Scott and
Eric called home before leaving for the airport.
I can't repeat enough as to what a blessing they have been while here. There was no
question of how the Lord used their time here. I am sure it is quite a bit different than
most short term missions trips.
They were an immense encouragement and support for our 'mission staff and station', to say
nothing of the encouragement personally to Kathy and me. We also had time to 'cut loose' and
experience some of the local culture (which you will get a better perspective from Scott and Eric.
We are used to it - it is fresh for them.)...
It is amazing how they hustled through the first three days and basically completed the initial
assignment of work to our barn. It didn't stop there. They actually spent most of the remainder of
the time doing antenna field maintenance. We are also quite thankful for the plumbing work Scott did
at our house, and for the diligence Eric put into fixing a broken lock on our car door...
To say the least, their trip has very much encouraged our focus on short term missions for our site.
The Lord certainly goes beyond our expectations, and beyond answering prayers, He builds from our
faithfulness at letting Him use times like this to show His faithfulness. It is no small thing to look
back at this week and see how the Lord used it.
Many thanks to all who were a part of putting this trip together and praying. This has made the
distance between TBC seem so much closer and yet now the distance also felt a bit stronger as well.
It was such a blessing to have 'kin' staying with us.
In Christ's Love,
George (for Kathy)
Greetings from where America's day begins.
Here is our update for day 3.
The weather has been exceptionally good. Eric, Scott, and Sterling should have
the barn roof completed by the end of the day. They were able to get a little
work done inside the barn as well, but with getting the trim fitted, holes filled,
and the entire roof coated by the end of Wednesday, it looks like they will get a
chance to dig into some additional work.
We are really thankful for these guys committing to come out and really put into
the work at hand. They are already a great encouragement to the rest of us. There
has been some discussion about getting their passports and holding them here for a
couple more weeks!! (just joking.) The Lord has really blessed the time alotted
already.
George
Warm greetings from Guam.
Monday has proven to be a good day, and surely a fast and enthusiastic start by our TBC team.
We had a chance to observe the broadcast shift and station operation this morning.
Here are some pictures of Scott and Eric at work on the barn (with our antenna & maintenance
guy Sterling.) It was dry and windy in the morning, but rainy and windy in the afternoon. Fortunately
they are at the repair before paint stage.
Scott's skill and experience at shaping duct work is paying off in manufacturing the end pieces for
the corrugated roofing.
It is a real blessing having these guys here.
In The Lamb,
George
19 Days 'Til Guam - Scott Noyes and Eric Westerberg, TBC's missions team for the Guam project, leave in just under 3 weeks to work with George & Kathy Ross. The tickets have been purchased for about $300 less than expected.
George & Kathy Ross, Trans World Radio missionaries in Guam, are eagerly looking forward to welcoming a work team from their home church next month! Scott Noyes and Eric Westerberg will be making the 10-day trip to help with a variety of repair and maintenance projects around the shortwave broadcast facility, and to represent the TBC family in strengthening our personal connections with two of our home-grown missionaries. Donations are being accepted to help cover the cost of airfare -- mark your gifts "Guam Trip" and drop it in the offering box.
