Each year we seek to continually improve the TBC Church Family Retreat based on feedback we have received, and this year will introduce some of the biggest changes we have made to date. At the same time that we want to keep things fresh, we also want to stay true to our purpose and to keep what is still working well at this popular event. So what is changing, and what should we expect to stay the same?
The biggest changes will stem from our change in location. This year we will be at Camp Spofford in Spofford, NH. This new setting will give us more space and some different opportunities for activities. The full court gym, in particular, opens up lots of different possibilities for recreation that are not dependent on the weather. You can get a preview of the comfortable accommodations on the Camp Spofford website (click on the "Accommodations and Facilities" tab on the left side of the page).
What will not be changing is our twofold purpose. First, we provide this retreat each year to help us to connect with others in the church family. The retreat format provides favorable conditions for us to get to know each other in ways that don't normally happen in the usual pace of life. Intentionally getting away together in a fun and relaxed environment has provided fertile ground in the past for forming new relationships and for deepening existing relationships, and we look forward to providing more occasions for that again this year.
In addition to connecting, we also are gathering to continue growing in Christ together. Our speaker this year is Dennis Gill, a pastor and co-leader of the Evangelical Network in New England. With a good understanding of what it means to serve and represent Christ in our unique and sometimes challenging context here in New England, Dennis will be speaking on how to make a difference among the people and places we find ourselves day to day.
You can register online, or in the TBC foyer starting January 13. The cost of the retreat is subsidized by the church budget because we firmly believe in the goals of the retreat and we want to make it affordable for all to attend. This year we are offering the retreat at a cost of $70 per person, with a cap of $200 per family. If you have any questions feel free to ask!
