The Kearsarge Workcamp 2012 is over, but this is what it was all about for those of you who may have missed it. [nivo source="current-post" speed=500]
Workcamps are organized by Group Cares, a non-profit interdenominational Christian organization that helps challenge students to use their time and energy to make a real difference in their communities and around the world. At the Kearsarge workcamp, over 400 students and adult leaders from around the country came and worked for a week on home-repair projects for those who who are unable to complete the projects themselves, all at no cost to the homeowner. A total of 53 families received home repairs. Locally, as we had done in 2002, 2006, and 2009, we partnered with Casey Family Services as a co-sponsor for the workcamp. Working throughout the region, crews:
- Painted
- Weatherized
- Built wheelchair ramps
- Built / repaired decks /stairs
- Repaired drywall
- Repaired minor roof damage
