Octobering

Dear Trinity family,

With October being a busy month, I want to make sure you don't miss a thing.

  • This Saturday, October 17th - Church Workday @ 8:00AM
  • This Saturday, October 17th - TBC Women Lunch & Hike - meet @ 12:00PM @ the Clark Lookout trailhead across from the Park n Ride in New London. Bring a packed lunch.
  • Sunday, October 18th - Romania Mission Trip meeting @ 11:45 (the conclusion of the worship service). A second meeting will be held on October 25th for anyone who desires to go or support the project but can't make the 18th.
  • Saturday, October 24th - Fall Fest (YAY!!!!) from 3-6PM

Secondly, I want to make sure you have a chance to fill out the form that will help our deacons match peoples' gifts and skills with needs both within and outside our church body. Click here if you haven't had a chance yet to fill it out.

Lastly, thank you to everyone who helped our fire drill go as smoothly as it did. Hopefully, if you're the parent of a little one, they made some good memories of getting to play on a fire truck. The following is from Cyndi Bailey:

Thank you to everyone who participated in the fire drill yesterday. We are grateful that God held off the rain for us. It went quite well! We cleared the building in less than 2 minutes – great work!

It was a good opportunity to try out the TBC safety plan and, as expected, we found a few things to tweak.

South end Muster point (At the far end of the parking lot beyond the playground):
  • In the case of a real fire, we need to minimize the number of people walking in front of the building.
  • So those who leave from the south exits (the end closest to the playground) should muster at the south end muster point.

North end Muster point: (In the parking lot area across from the entrance):
  • Because the children exit through the north door, they will muster at the north end of the parking lot
  • Those who use the exit at the NW corner of the sanctuary that exits to the back of the building will also muster at the north end of the parking lot.
  • Knowing that parents will NOT want to be separated from their children, they may exit through that NW exit or exit out the main doors at the south and carefully head to the north muster area, staying as far away from the building as practicable.
  • Those mustering at the north end will stay on the gravel area, not the grass as windows can blow out during certain fire conditions and, in winter, the grass area will not be plowed. The fire chief clarified that fire dept vehicles and personnel will initially position at the front of the building to assess conditions and begin their efforts, so we don’t need to keep the gravel area clear
  • People should not move their vehicles before fire equipment arrives. Vehicles may be moved under the direction of responding fire personnel to facilitate better building access or protection of vehicles.
