Dear Trinity family,
This Sunday, we will be celebrating the Lord's Supper together as the prelude to our potluck lunch roughly 15 minutes after the conclusion of our worship service.
Why are we doing this? The Lord's supper was originally a meal in memory of what Jesus did for us. In many ways, it was patterned off of not just Passover, but also the peace offering as instituted in the book of Leviticus. The peace offering followed a burnt sacrifice as a communal meal. God's people would celebrate by sharing a meal the fact that their sins were atoned for. What we'll be doing this Sunday is a way of remembering that experience to a small extent.
If you haven't yet, please sign up on the app. If for some reason, that's not working for you, shoot me an email that you intend to come.
Two items to make note of. 1) We're in need of main dishes and 2) if it is something that needs to be kept warm, we will be using the upstairs smaller classroom in addition to the kitchen and the tables that will be set up for food delivery in the fellowship hall (i.e., the basement). Basically, we won't have enough workable outlets if we just use what's downstairs. So, if those are filled, we'll use the upstairs as well.
Two other quick notes -
1. May's prayer calendar is up and available on our website. Click here and you can download it. We'll also have paper copies on Sunday.
2. May 7th is the National Day of Prayer. More on that next week, but we will have buttons available for you to take with you on Sunday as a reminder to pray and if you want to wear it and maybe spark some conversations, may the Lord bless your efforts.
We'll see you Sunday when we'll be in 1 Peter 4:7-11!
In Christ
